Super Bowl rewind: 'Wardrobe malfunction'

NEED TO KNOW
  • It's one of the most memorable moments in Super Bowl history
  • And it has nothing to do with game play
  • Halftime shows haven't been the same since

This week is the anniversary of Janet Jackson's infamous 2004 Super Bowl faux pas, which introduced the term "wardrobe malfunction" into the cultural lexicon. It was an uneventful performance until Justin Timberlake pulled at Jackson's top, exposing her right breast to millions of game watchers. What followed was a scandal so huge, it got its own nickname: "Nipplegate."

The singer offered this public apology following the incident. In a statement she explained, "The decision to have a costume reveal at the end of my halftime show performance was made after final rehearsals."

Will Beyonce's Super Bowl XLVII halftime performance be as memorable? And does she get to lip sync?
