Dr. Drew

Driven by current events, "Dr. Drew" on HLN focuses on the human - and human behavior - at the center of the story.

Arias’ stories: What was really going on in her mind?

  • Jodi Arias is accused of killing her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, in Arizona
  • She says she killed Alexander in self-defense

Jodi Arias' attorneys argue she killed her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in self-defense, even though Arias has given authorities several stories about Alexander’s death.

After Alexander’s body was found in June of 2008 at his Mesa, Arizona home, Arias told police she was not involved in his killing. She later told investigators that she witnessed two intruders break in and kill him. Eventually, her lawyers said she killed Alexander in self-defense.

Alexander’s body had 29 stab wounds, his throat was slit from ear to ear and he had been shot in the face.

This lead to a conversation about the pathology of lying on Tuesday night’s edition of Dr. Drew On Call. How do they get good at it … and what happens when they get caught?

Dr. Drew On Call airs Monday through Wednesday on HLN at 9 p.m. ET.  Follow the show on Facebook and Twitter @DrDrewHLN.
