Defense asks for mistrial in Arias case

  • Jodi's defense team argued the lead detective gave inaccurate information at a hearing in 2009
  • Defense argued for a mistrial based on Det. Flores' admission he made a mistake in previous testimony

The Jodi Arias defense team dropped a bombshell in court on Thursday asking for a mistrial. The defense argued that Det. Esteban Flores, the lead detective, gave inaccurate information at a hearing in 2009.  The judge denied that motion, saying that Flores’ “mistake” did not violate Arias’ right to a fair trial.

But Jane Velez-Mitchell’s panel of legal experts say the defense may have had another reason for making this motion.
