Dr. Drew On Call

Driven by current events, "Dr. Drew" on HLN focuses on the human - and human behavior - at the center of the story.

Why are so many teens binge drinking?

NEED TO KNOW
  • Binge drinking among high school students increases with every grade level
  • Nearly 90-percent of all the alcohol consumed by young people is taken during a binge drinking session

The dangerous trend of teens and binge drinking continues.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 90-percent of all the alcohol consumed by young people is taken during a binge drinking session.

On Wednesday night, HLN’s Dr. Drew said, “I simply cannot say this enough. Every time something bad happens to our young people …you find drugs or alcohol. Whether it is an unwanted pregnancy, unwanted sexual contact, an STD, an accident, a fight -- whatever it is -- look for alcohol, because it's always there.”

In the video clip above, Dr. Drew reveals the shocking statistics on this, sometimes, deadly problem.

Dr. Drew On Call airs Monday through Wednesday on HLN at 9 p.m. ET.  Follow the show on Facebook and Twitter @DrDrewHLN.
