A woman shot an intruder in the face five times to protect her children Friday.
Police say she saw the man outside her home in Loganville, near Atlanta, so he grabbed her 9-year-old twins and her gun and hid in a crawl space. The man then broke into her home and found them... that's when she opened fire.
Her husband says he's proud of his wife. "My wife is a hero. She protected her kids," he tells HLN affiliate WSB. "She did what she was supposed to do as responsible, prepared gun owner."
The suspect has been identified as Paul Slater. He's been arrested 6 times in the county since 2008.
Slater survived the shooting and tried to drive away, but police found him nearby bleeding and pleading for help. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
