The spectacular costumes and the gravity defying acrobatics often leave Cirque du Soleil audiences wondering, "How do they do that?"
Natasha Curry visited Cirque's TOTEM show publicist, Francis Jalbert, to learn a little more about the performers. Oh-- and did we mention Natasha tried a few stunts of her own?!
A quick 411 on the Cirque TOTEM troupe:
- There are 52 artists from 17 countries who speak 11 different languages. Jalbert says, "It's like a little U.N. traveling around!"
- If someone gets hurt, the group acts go on with one less person. If there's an act missing entirely, there are two back up performances ready to go.
- The 52 acrobats perform every night at every show.
- Many of the artists have been training from a very early age. Jalbert says they know all the tricks of the trade to keep their bodies in tip top shape!
