On Sunday, President Obama traveled to Newtown, Connecticut, to meet with the families of the school shooting victims and to address the nation in light of this tragedy. He reassured Newtown that their community is “not alone in grief” and vowed to use “whatever power” his office holds to prevent future incidents like the elementary school shooting that occurred there.
He then read the individual names of the 20 fallen children and asked that their families carry on to “make our country worthy of their memory.”
