It's a crazy you can see coming from blocks away. Whether it's elaborate Clark Griswold style Christmas lights or a way-too-detailed, blow-up Nativity scene, when you pass by you just can't help but wonder, "How and why in the world did those people do that?"
Well, we decided to find out! And we wanted to hear from the extreme of the extremes, so we went to Shay Gibbons. Shay begins putting up her Christmas decorations in mid-October. She works on them up to 10 hours a day, and somehow manages to hold down a full-time job at the same time. Shay is a self-confessed "Christmas hoarder." She's also featured on TLC's My Crazy Obsession: Christmas Collection. Sound harsh? You decide. Shay's Christmas display is a $100,000 expense. Without turning on the heat, the Christmas lights alone make the house about 85 to 90 degrees. Does your family have a Christmas tree? Well Shay has 168 Christmas trees inside her house, and about 40 are full-sized trees.
We invited Shay and her daughter Charity McGuire to stop by Making it in America and share their story of extreme holiday cheer!
My Crazy Obsession: Christmas Collection airs on TLC Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10 p.m.
