Google Maps back on iPhone

NEED TO KNOW

  • Apple CEO apologized for falling 'short' on new map app
  • The Google maps app is a free download from the iTunes store

iPhone users have Google maps back!

Apple dropped Google Maps from the iPhone back in September when it launched its own map app, but it has been a big disaster. Apple CEO Tim Cook even apologized "for the frustration" iPhone's new map feature caused some users.

But today, you can trust your iPhone again! Many people were ready to throw theirs out the window in disgust. Australian police even had to warn drivers not to use Apple maps in one area. Some people were put in danger when the program led them to a desolate area with no gas or water, rather than their intended destination.

The new Google maps for iPhone will still not be your default mapping system -- it's an app you'll have to launch like any other.

To get it, just go to the iTunes store and download. It's free.
