Commissioner Roger Goodell -- who's on the cover of Time Magazine this month -- says they'll vote on whether to get rid of kickoffs this off-season.

The reason for the possible change? Player safety. 

Nine-year NFL vet Coy Wire tells HLN that the play is notoriously dangerous. You may remember college player Eric LeGrand, who was paralyzed during a kickoff at Rutgers. Wire says he’s been knocked unconscious at least twice during kickoffs.

So if they get rid of this iconic play, how would they start the game? Doing away with kickoffs could mean a team would get the ball on its own 30-yard line after a touchdown or field goal. One idea is, call it a 4th-and-15. Then the team could either go for it and try to retain possession, or punt.
