Kansas City Chiefs player Jovan Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins last weekend and fled the scene, leaving their baby daughter and his mother behind.
Before he left, Belcher apologized to his mother, Cheryl Shepherd, who was staying with the couple, and that's when she called 911.

During the call, Shepherd calls out Perkins’ name and pleads with her, "Stay with me!" Shepherd explains that the couple had been arguing and tells the operator that Perkins is still alive and responding to her voice.
By the end of the call, though, Belcher's mother becomes silent, and all you hear on the tape is 3-month-old Zoey crying in the background.
Perkins died of her injuries. Belcher shot and killed himself in a parking lot near Arrowhead Stadium in front of his coach as police arrived.
