Fish in a phone booth? No joke!

NEED TO KNOW
  • Wayde King and Brett Raymer star on Animal Planet’s 'Tanked'
  • The brothers-in-law run Las Vegas aquarium biz
  • Clients include Kobe Bryant, Tracy Morgan, Neil Patrick Harris

Stars of Animal Planet’s hit series “Tanked,” Wayde King and Brett Raymer travel the world leaving some of the most outrageous, custom-made aquariums in their wake. Want fish swimming in a pinball machine or refrigerator? No problem. Their motto is: “If you can dream it, they can build it.”

The brothers-in-law are based in Las Vegas where they run their aquarium-building biz called Acrylic Tank Manufacturing, or ATM for short. “We've got more frequent flyer miles than probably anyone you know,” laughs Brett. “We travel from A to Z, day and night,” adds Wayde.

They build the tanks in Las Vegas, then ship and assemble them on-site. So, many things can go wrong. “Whether it's when we get in here and the tank's not here and we have to wait,” explains Wayde, “[or] it gets damaged [during] shipping.” Or, if someone forgets to pack a part, it has to be shipped from Las Vegas.

Originally from New York, the duo has built aquariums for celeb clients like Neil Patrick Harris, Tracy Morgan, Kobe Bryant, and Dr. Dre. Aerosmith may soon be added to that list. “Steven Tyler walked in the other day,” explains Brett. “Just came in on his motorcycle and said, 'Hey guys I've heard of you, and we want something awesome for my house in Hawaii.' “

Between their TV show and business, Brett and Wayde spend about two weeks out of every month away from home. What's difficult about being on the road for Wayde? “Some of your family members or your employees think you're leaving for vacation,” says ATM’s CEO. "They don't realize that when you get to the job site you travel for 10 hours.” Wayde adds, “You're up until 2 or 3 in the morning, then you gotta get up the next morning at 7. It's very difficult on you.”

Since the duo are together almost all the time, they look forward to spending time alone in their hotel rooms. “Very rarely, we'd have to stay in the same room,” says Wayde. “Of course there are double beds. If he stays in the same bed as me, I'll hurt him.” Brett’s response: “How can anybody sleep in the same bed as you? I'm surprised my sister does! What are you kidding me?”
