“I barely knew the man and why would I kill him?” software mogul John McAfee told CNN’s Martin Savidge Friday in his first on-camera interview since going on the run from Belize authorities who want to question him in the killing of his neighbor, Gregory Faull.

This case started November 9, when McAfee said he had to shoot and bury his four dogs because he believed someone poisoned them.

Officials say the dogs' barking and aggressive behavior was a source of contention between McAfee and Faull, a 52-year-old contractor who retired to Belize from Florida and lived next door.

On November 11, Faull was found shot in the head in his home near San Pedro, on the Caribbean island of Ambergris Caye.  A 9mm shell was found on the second step on the first floor, and Faull was found dead on the second floor.

McAfee said he has nothing to do with his neighbor’s death, and he thinks the Belize government wants him dead.

McAfee founded the computer security software company named after him, but left in 1992 after the company went public. He moved to Belize in 2008.
