A New York City police officer's kind act is inspiring people across the world.
A tourist from Arizona snapped a picture in Times Square showing Officer Lawrence DePrimo and a barefoot homeless man on the sidewalk.
DePrimo says he offered the man socks at first, but he declined. So the 25-year-old officer went into a Skechers store and bought the man a pair of boots (thanks in part to a salesman who rang up the purchase using his employee discount)!
The woman who took the picture sent it to the NYPD, and they posted it on their Facebook page. Since it went up on Tuesday, the photo has received nearly half a million "likes" and has more than 35,000 comments!
Officer DePrimo says, "I didn't think anything of it," and tells CNN's Mary Snow he hopes the attention inspires others to act kindly.
He now carries the receipt for the boots in his bulletproof vest to remind him of those less fortunate.
