A brawl broke out in a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, courthouse Wednesday after the sentencing of a man who smoked marijuana, then got behind the wheel of a car and hit and killed a 6-year-old boy.
Earlier this year, Dedrik Ashford pleaded guilty to knowingly operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and causing death.
Court documents state that Ashford admitted he smoked marijuana a few hours before getting in the car and hitting Christopher Wade, reports HLN affiliate WISN.
Wade’s family was upset when the judge sentenced Ashford to one year in prison and one year of probation and began yelling in the courtroom.
The ruckus carried out into the hallway, and WISN reports, the Sherriff’s Department says three people are in custody.
