Secessionist blames 'taxation and tyranny'

  • Derrick Belcher started a petition asking the White House to let Alabama withdraw from the U.S.
  • He's gotten over 25,000 signatures, enough for a response

People in just about every state of the country have filed petitions on the White House website asking for their state to withdraw from the United States.

Some are upset over the outcome of the presidential election while others say taxes are too high or there's too much federal government.

They need 25,000 signatures in 30 days to get the government to respond. Alabama is one of a handful of states that has already reached that mark.

Derrick Belcher is the man who started the Alabama petition. He tells Evening Express the two major reasons why he wants his state to secede.
