We all want to live life to its fullest.
Dr. Phil says he loves this topic. "I think it is so important that we not let days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months and months turn into years and we look up and our life has passed us by. I think we've got to live goal-oriented lives. And I mean that mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially, career-wise, financially, whatever. We've got to have goals so we have something that we're moving towards, that we have something that we're passionate about."
But you have to have an action plan -- Dr. Phil says the difference between a dream and a goal is a timeline. He says when you're talking about a dream you can say, "Oh someday, I want to be rich and famous. Okay that's a dream. You've got to put a timetable to the things that you really want or you'll never get there. Trust me, someday is not a day of the week. It's not on your calendar."
He also points out that when you choose your behavior, you choose the consequences. He says "if we choose to be lazy, we choose the consequence of not much achievement. If we choose to work excessive hours, we choose the consequence of not focusing on our family. If we choose to overeat, we choose poor health as a consequence."
"So when you're ready to make a choice," he says, "look past the choice and see what consequence comes with it."
