Voting with your mouth? That’s right.
Cincinnati’s Busken Bakery has been holding a presidential cookie poll for the past seven elections.
They make cookies with each of the candidates’ faces on them, and sell them online and in stores.
“We run the election cookie poll from October all the way to Election Day, and amazingly our results are very accurate,” according to Dan Busken, the CEO of the family-owned Busken Bakery.
In 2008, the bakery correctly predicted Obama would be the next president.
“Our cookie poll election results were identical to the national electoral votes, by percentage,” Busken said.
The poll is updated every 24 hours, and results are posted online and on Facebook.
Busken’s guarantee -- “We will leave no cookie crumb uncounted!”
Clever advertising has helped Busken Bakery stay successful for more than 80 years. The bakery opened in 1928, and it’s now operated by Page Busken and his sons, Dan and Brian.
“From time to time, we will hit it big with a good idea, and that will spike our sales for a little bit,” explains Busken. “But the way we've been able to stay in business for 84 years is to really treat the people of Cincinnati like they are our family.”
