Official says worst-hit New York state has already suffered 47 deaths as a result of Superstorm Sandy, including 40 in New York City -- half of those were in Staten Island.
Almost a week since the storm hit, Staten Island residents are struggling with the effects of its aftermath.
The damage is now estimated to be between $30 billion and $50 billion, according to disaster modeling firm Eqecat, exceeding the firm's pre-storm estimate of $20 billion.
The Staten Island residents HLN’s Dr. Drew talked to while he toured the storm-ravaged areas this past weekend are wondering what kind of relief is headed their way.
There is massive destruction, power outages, long lines for gas and food shortages to name just a few issues the storm’s victims are dealing with at this time.
In the video clip above, watch as Dr. Drew and Ramona Rizzo of Vh1’s "Mob Wives" interview NYC residents and document their devastation.
Dr. Drew On Call airs Monday through Wednesday on HLN at 9 p.m. ET. Follow the show on Facebook and Twitter @DrDrewHLN.
