Political science professor and senior political editor for Politic365.com, Jason Johnson says tonight's debate should be "fascinating television."

Johnson compares Biden to a "folksy, cool guy in the suburbs in a t-shirt who's grilling up hot dogs for everybody."  And Ryan, he says, is the "young, smart guy who's been really ambitious." Johnson says, "People might not connect with [Ryan] as much, but they certainly respect what he has to say."

In the end, though, Johnson thinks this debate is really less about the issues and more about making people feel safe.  "This is the one time of the year," he says, "when we think, 'OK Look, if something happened can this man, and maybe some day this woman, really take over the job?' "
