Passengers on two different American Airlines flights were sitting in seats that came loose during their flight. 

One passenger says, "The seats flipped backwards… people were essentially on the laps of the passengers behind them.”

How did this happen? American Airlines says an initial investigation shows there may be an issue with a certain model of seats.  The airline also says that the incidents do not seem to be connected to a maintenance facility or work group.

The FAA says records show the seats had recently been removed and reinstalled.

Eight other planes that may have a similar issue will be inspected.
