Oh. My. God.  A woman in South Carolina says her ex-boyfriend was secretly living in her attic and she didn't even know it.

The woman tells HLN affiliate WCNC her kids found him after she heard a loud thump above her bed, followed by the popping of nails out of the ceiling.  Thinking it was an animal, she sent her sons up to take a look.

Once they discovered the ex-boyfriend's hiding place amongst old coats and soda cups full of feces and urine, he ran out of the house before police could arrive.

The woman who was not identified for her safety says she and her former boyfriend have been broken up for years. The woman's ex-boyfriend had recently served time in jail for stealing her truck. 

Police say they are not sure how long he'd been squatting in the attic, or how he'd been getting in and out. The only entrance is in the hallway that leads to her kids' rooms.
