Casey Anthony wants to bar evidence in new case

  • Casey Anthony was found not guilty in the death of her daughter on July 5, 2011
  • Her attorneys want evidence of her murder trial barred from her defamation case

Casey Anthony's attorneys have asked a judge to make evidence of her murder trial inadmissible in her civil defamation case.

Zenaida Gonzalez is suing Anthony for defamation and claims she was harassed and threatened after Anthony came up with a fictitious nanny named Zenaida Gonzalez-Fernandez, also known as "Zanny the Nanny."  Anthony accused the fictitious nanny of kidnapping her daughter, Caylee.

In July 2011, a jury acquitted Anthony of all the charges related to her child's death, but convicted her on four counts of lying to law enforcement. She was sentenced to four years. With credit for the time she served before and during her trial, she was released from jail July 17.
