Morning Express with Robin Meade

A fast, personal, and smart blend of all the news you want in the morning. We call it "News in the Fast Lane." So buckle up.

Former Chicago Cub leading kids to college

  • C.J. Stewart is one of Morning Express with Robin Meade's 'Leaders with Heart'
  • He’s using baseball to help boys go to college through his 'L.E.A.D.' organization

C.J. Stewart always dreamed of playing major league baseball. But he grew up in one of Atlanta’s most dangerous housing projects.

“I came home to a community that was destitute, but for us there was always hope,” Stewart says.

Through baseball, he earned a college scholarship and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs.

Now Stewart is helping other boys like him through his L.E.A.D. organization. He uses baseball to help young boys stay in school and earn college scholarships.

“It worked for me, so I know it can work for them,” he says.

Since 2007, 33 participants have graduated high school and enrolled in college.

If you know someone who is making a difference in their community, we want to hear about 'em!  Nominate him or her to be our next 'Leader with Heart.'  Visit our blog at for links to Facebook and email so you can tell us about someone you think we should feature on Morning Express with Robin Meade!
