While stars like Eva Longoria, Jessica Alba, and Scarlett Johansson were supporting President Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., on the other side of the country, celebrities were sending their support from the MTV VMAs' red carpet.
Singer Alicia Keys hosted the “Women Vote 2012 Summit” for the Obama campaign last month, and she told Showbiz Tonight’s Nischelle Turner that she really believes the president recognize women’s issues.
“He was raised by a powerful woman, he’s married to a powerful woman, he’s raising two powerful women,” Keys said. “I think he really understands women’s issues, he understands about our rights and the things that I personally believe in and would like to stay in place.”
“Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” singer Pink echoes Keys’ sentiments saying about the president and first lady, “They’re just so authentic and genuine and I believe them, and I think he needs four more years.”
But the stars were also passionate that no matter what your political stance is, voting in general is very important. Singer Miley Cyrus told Showbiz Tonight, “I think it’s important to make sure people realize that they really do make a difference, it’s not just one vote it really is, just the one time you gotta do something good for your country you know, I think it’s really important.”
