Missouri Congressman Todd Akin is facing a firestorm after he answered a question about abortion, saying that "legitimate rape” rarely leads to pregnancy. He has since apologized saying he "misspoke" and that he has “deep empathy” for rape victims.
Many were left stunned by his comments and are not accepting his apology. Jane Velez-Mitchell talked to some rape victims to get their take on this controversy. The panel included Shauna Prewitt, a rape survivor who shared her open letter to Akin on JVM.
