When Mississippi native Lance Bass rocketed to fame through his former boy band, 'NSync, he made his home state proud. Yet after Bass revealed a long-held secret in 2006--that he was gay--he says that Mississippi turned on him. The singer reveals to Showbiz Tonight that he received death threats and that his family was heaped with abuse. Now, Bass is striving to raise awareness about homosexuality, as the executive producer of a documentary called " Mississippi I Am." While the film recalls his painful experience of coming out, it's primary focus is on gay teens in Mississippi, who share their own struggles with coming out in a conservative state.
