"The Dark Knight Rises" star Christian Bale and his wife Sandra Blazic visited Aurora, Colorado, Tuesday to pay tribute to the victims of the horrific theater shooting last week that left 12 dead and 58 wounded.

Bale stopped at a makeshift memorial to the victims near the theater. He also visited patients at the Medical Center of Aurora, where he posed with one of the patients in his hospital bed in a picture later posted on Twitter.

Warner Brothers, the studio that distributed the movie and contributed to the fund for victims, said Bale went to the site on his own behalf.
