Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney of New Orleans met while volunteering at their kids’ elementary school. They bonded and became good friends.
After Hurricane Katrina, the two wanted to find a way to give back. Their goal was to fill a void for lighthearted entertainment where people in New Orleans could go to forget their troubles... even if it was only for a few hours.
They came up with an art concept for adults and opened a step-by-step painting instruction business called Painting with a Twist in 2007.
The idea of grabbing a bottle of wine and meeting up with friends for a fun art lesson was a hit.
Cathy and Renee never imagined their business would grow as fast as it did. Two years after opening up their first location, they sold their first franchise. Today, they have four company stores and 67 franchises sold throughout the U.S.
With all of their success, Cathy and Renee's passion for supporting the community has never faltered. With the 'Painting with a Purpose' program, the franchised locations serve as fundraising spots for local charities where 50 percent of proceeds are given to organizations throughout the community.
