Dr. Drew: Sex abuse is an epidemic

NEED TO KNOW
  • Dr. Drew: It's important to elevate the conversation about child sex abuse
  • He adds, 'It’s an epidemic in our country and it’s high time we really talked about it as that kind of a problem'

More news came out Thursday about the investigation into how Penn State University allegedly handled the scandal involving former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

But HLN’s Dr. Drew expanded the subject matter Thursday night, noting how important it is to elevate the conversation about child sex abuse.

He said he began talking about child sex abuse in the early '90s, explaining, “For 15 years, people would say to me, ‘Oh, it’s always been there. We are just talking about it more now.’ No. It’s an epidemic in our country and it’s high time we really talked about it as that kind of a problem.”
