What type of woman buys erotic literature?

  • Relationship therapist Simone Bienne: Research shows these women are very independent -- very intelligent
  • She adds, 'Being submissive is the second biggest fantasy of married women'

There has been so much talk about the erotic book “Fifty Shades of Grey” in recent months.

Ever since it was announced that the book series phenomenon would be turned into a film, fans have been in a frenzy.

Twenty million copies of the erotic trilogy have now sold in the U.S.  But what kind of woman really buys these types of novels? Dr. Drew’s “Loveline” co-host Simone Bienne answered that very question.

“Research actually [shows] that the women who buy erotic literature are actually very independent [and] very intelligent, because they are using their brain,” the psychosexual and relationship therapist said.

She added, “Being submissive is the second biggest fantasy of married women. Because they are working … so terribly hard else where, they don't want to work hard in the bedroom in this kind of fantasy realm.”
