Fmr. prosecutor Jeff Ashton: 'Regrets? No, I really don't'

A Florida jury acquitted Casey Anthony of murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee on July 5, 2011.

The verdict caused intense feelings amongst those who followed the trial day-by-day.

On Thursday night, HLN’s Dr. Drew asked former Casey prosecutor Jeff Ashton if he had any regrets about the case one year later.

Ashton said, “Regrets? No, I really don't … other than some small things that we might do differently, there's really nothing I feel we could have done differently that would have changed this jury's opinion of the case.”

Attorney Mark Eiglarsh added, “I strongly believe [Jeff Ashton] and everyone on the prosecution team did the best they could at their level of awareness with the evidence that they had. I don't think anyone … who claims to be someone who can prosecute would have been able to carry this jury to the highest burden under the law with the evidence available.”

Casey Anthony’s probation is over on August 24, 2012.
