Wounded vets heal through music

NEED TO KNOW
  • 'Warrior Spirit' is a band of injured service members who play for fellow wounded warriors
  • 'Music has been my driving force,' says band's creator

Paul de la Cerda suffered a traumatic brain injury when a bomb exploded near his vehicle in 2005. Now the Wounded Warrior Project is helping him heal through the power of music by kickstarting his music career.

Cerda has started the band “Warrior Spirit” with a group of other injured service members. They play for fellow wounded warriors across the United States.

“Music has been my driving force my whole life,” Cerda tells HLN’s Evening Express. “It’s given us something to look forward to. It’s become a dream come true to be able to play for other guys like ourselves.”
