We are hunting down a vicious killer or killers who brutally murdered a loving couple in their California home. It happened the night of October 1, 2006. The couple, 91-year-old Bill Chapman and his 81-year-old wife, Lena, were home alone when they were assaulted and murdered.
The Chapmans lived in Merced, California, an artsy community in rural central California. It is not the kind of town known for this kind of brutal violence. The Chapman’s son Bill says police belive the killers are probably somewhere in the town of 78,000- right where they committed this heinous crime.
Police believe the killers set the Chapmans’ house on fire to destroy any evidence. But the police tell HLN they are still working on hard on the investigation and do, in fact, have some evidence. Police have no suspects but they are watching “more than one person” and “do not consider this a cold case”
Jane Velez-Mitchell and Investigative reporter Jon Leiberman want to bring these killers to justice. And they need your help. If you have any information please email us at Jane@hlntv.com or call Detective Joe Deliman of the Merced Police Department at 209-385-6992.
Jane and Jon spoke with Bill and Lena Chapmans’ son, Jim.
