Have you ever wondered if your doctor or nurse is an addict … perhaps high on pills? Would you even know it? How can a patient become aware?
“With pills, it is so difficult because they don’t smell and you can’t tell” said chemical dependency expert and recovering addict Shelly Sprague.
Dr. Drew continued, “[Watch out for medical professionals who] work late hours, [display] erratic behaviors, outbursts of anger or exert abusive language.”
Sprague added, “[They have] very specific behavior that is indicative of problems. [Again, look out for those] working late hours and missing appointments.”
Dr. Drew airs Monday through Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on HLN. Follow the show on Twitter @DrDrewHLN.
