The federal government is using tax dollars to round up wild horses and burros in northern Nevada. These animals are being chased by helicopters for miles and miles through the heat until they are trapped. Sometimes the animals are starving and thirsty/ There is even video of helicopters hitting some animals.
The government says they are trying to protect these horses from drought. They told HLN that helicopters are a safe and practical way to take excess horses off the range.
Critics say these tactics are similar to torture.
Jane Velez-Mitchell spoke to a very special guest about the wild horse roundup, music legend Willie Nelson. You can find out more about the wild horse roundup at the Animal Welfare Institute.
