When an EF-5 tornado hit their home, Steve and Anita Stokes took cover the best they could -- in a hallway in front of their bathroom. They survived, but the experience left them wanting more safety from future storms, which is why their new home comes with a specially designed storm shelter.
The Stokes took HLN's Robin Meade on a tour of their concrete and steel safe room, which is partially buried in their back yard. As the steel door was closed and bolted behind them, Robin asked how we know if that will hold in a storm. "I guess we don't know," Steve Stokes said but he added that he feels "a lot safer."
