In Jennifer Lopez’s new role in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” she plays a woman looking to adopt after she can’t have children on her own. Now that J.Lo has had some on-screen experience with adoption, Showbiz Tonight asked Lopez what she thought about fellow celebrity mothers, such as Madonna and Angelina Jolie. These mega stars have been blasted for “orphan tourism”—going to Africa to adopt unwanted children.
Lopez though tells Showbiz Tonight she has nothing but praise for these moms saying, “I commend them for it. I think it's a beautiful thing. I think it's a very selfless act of love to adopt a child that you don't know and never seen before and never met before.”
Lopez, who is mother to twins Max and Emma, says at first she was “weary” about taking on the role of an adopting mother in the film, but soon found inspiration through her own life experience.
“My character, Holly, in the movie can't have a baby and she feels like she wants one so badly and I actually did know those feelings because I wanted kids so badly and I felt like I couldn't have them either. It just wasn't happening for me after I got married and I was just like 'Maybe I'm not supposed to have them', but I wanted it so bad,” explained Lopez.
