A New Jersey father has posted excepts on YouTube of a recording that he says is of a teacher “bullying” his autistic son.
Audio of the clip, obtained from a secret recording device placed on the child, reveals the voice of a person Stuart Chaifetz says is a teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, calling his 10-year-old son Akian a "bastard" and talking about alcohol and sex.
Chaifetz took the unusual measure of bugging his son after school officials said he had been acting out in class. His online posting has since led to disciplinary actions by the school district, including the removal of at least one teacher, school officials said.
In a statement posted online, Cherry Hill Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Maureen Reusche said the district had investigated the recordings and "responded swiftly and appropriately."
"I want to assure our parents that the individuals who are heard on the recording raising their voices and inappropriately addressing children no longer work in the district and have not since shortly after we received the copy of the recording," she said.
Chaifetz has launched a website called "No More Teacher/Bullies”.
