The good news is that she has been identified and a family member is with her now, but as CNN's Susan Candiotti reports, when she was first discovered, alone in a field, no one knew who she was.
It's not yet clear how the 20-month-old little girl ended up in that Salem, Indiana field, but the area had been hit by devastating tornadoes just hours before.
Rescuers airlifted the little girl to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, where as of 9 p.m. Friday night she was listed in critical condition. Her name and exact injuries have not been released.
