Dr. Drew talks to a man who says he’s been in an intimate, monogamous relationship with his car “Chase” for the past five years.
Nathaniel says he goes on dates with his car, buys it birthday gifts, and even has intimate physical contact with it.
His obsession apparently began as a teenager, when he would build model cars.
“I love you baby,” he tells Chase. “It was love at first sight -- his body, his interior and everything together just seem to fit -- I just felt an instant connection,” he tells Dr. Drew.
Dr. Drew talks to Nathaniel about this behavior. It’s been coined "objectophilia" and refers to “someone who develops a strong emotional and sexual relationship with inanimate objects.”
