A Florida judge ordered a man who was accused of domestic violence to take his wife on a dinner date.

This light-hearted ruling has outraged a lot of advocacy groups. One even calls the ruling a “joke.”

The wife said they got into a fight because he never wished her a ‘happy birthday.’ The man then allegedly pushed her, put his hand on her neck and raised his fist ... but didn't hit her. She told the judge she wanted her husband home.

The Orlando Sentinel reports the judge said he made the ruling because the alleged violence was “minor.” He did order them to go to marriage counseling.

A lot of viewers wrote in to the Morning Express with Robin Meade Facebook page or to Robin on Twitter to share their thoughts.

Here are a few:

KeennyK: Good decision by judge. Pretty sure this isn't his first domestic case & hubby had no priors. Diff if he shows up again, tho.

Gary: Because, of course, forced co-habitation is the best way to solve domestic problems.

PegsPantry: How about mandated marriage counseling for domestic abuse! Teaching couples how to disagree w/o violence is imperative!

Shannon: I think it's great. Obviously, the judge saw a non-threatening situation and felt good old fashioned chivalry was needed. I think MORE judges should think outside the box.

Colleen: Clearly the judge does not know about domestic violence... This sentence re-victimizes the wife.
