The roof of a hockey rink in Slovakia collapsed, with children and a former NHL star inside.
Everyone is okay, but they are all lucky to be alive. Minutes before the roof fell, the entire team was on the ice practicing. Chunks of the roof start falling, so the team and coaches start scrambling to get off the ice and out the building. After several seconds, the entire roof came crumbling down on the ice. The sound from the original YouTube video is chilling.
USA Today reports that former NHL player Richard Zednik was in the arena as well. This would be his second brush with death in a hockey arena. You may remember Zednik from a life threatening accident during his stint with the Florida Panthers. His carotid artery was sliced open when he was cut by another player's skate blade back in 2008.
Witnesses say the roof of the Slovakian arena just could not hold up to the extra weight on it left by a recent ice storm.
