Here's a military salute from a very proud mom who hasn't seen her daughter and son-in-law in more than a year. Sheila McCleary's Salute to Troops highlights how uncertain life in the military can be. Captains Sara and Phillip Walker have both sacrificed home and family in order to serve their country.
Sheila writes:
"Our daughter, CPT Sara McCleary Walker and her husband, CPT Phillip Walker have one more month to finish their year in Afghanistan. Sara flies Chinooks [helicopters] and Phil flies MEDEVAC Blackhawks [helicopters]. They will return to Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, the first of February. They moved into a house last December after their wedding, only to move back out a month later [when they learned] they would be deployed."
Sheila hopes to see them both in March.
