Paul Deen, the Queen of Southern Cooking, has been keeping a secret. The woman made famous for adding extra butter and sugar to her dishes announced that she has type 2 Diabetes.
But what is upsetting a lot of people is that she was diagnosed with diabetes three years ago. Yet this whole time she continued to offer her viewers the same increasingly fat laden diet that likely had some contribution to her adult onset Diabetes.
Some critics are going even further, saying Paula only decided to come forward about her disease because she landed a profitable endorsement deal with a drug company to push a diabetes drug.
Deen is one of the most popular chefs in the country with a huge fan base. Jane Velez-Mitchell asks if Deen lost fans by keeping her disease a secret and by coming forward at the same time this endorsement deal was made public.
