A friend of Joran van der Sloot tried to convince HLN’s Nancy Grace that Stephany Flores “provoked” her own murder Wednesday night.
Speaking hours after van der Sloot pleaded guilty to murder in a Peruvian court, John Ludwick argued that Flores put herself at risk by not leaving van der Sloot’s hotel room after she realized he may have been involved in Natalee Holloway’s disappearance.
“I’m not saying she deserved it, but she could have prevented it by leaving immediately,” Ludwick said.
“Do you realize how crazy you sound?” Grace asked.
Ludwick said that van der Sloot had no choice but to plead guilty, and he hopes the 24-year-old gets out of prison in ten years or less.
“I’m speaking now as a victim of violent crime myself,” Grace said. "I reserve this for very, very few people, but you, sir, are a fool.”
