The words stunned the globe: Michael Jackson is dead.
The internationally known and critically acclaimed 50-year-old singer died in his Holmby Hills, California home of acute propofol intoxication on June 25, 2009.
Jackson was gearing up for a comeback with a series of shows in London when he died.
The King of Pop began his career as a child star in the singing group, The Jackson 5, and successfully transitioned to an astonishing solo career. That included dominating the charts in the '70s, '80s and '90s. In fact, Jackson's 1982 record "Thriller" is the best-selling album of all time.
He was arguably one of the most influential musicians of all-time, despite his struggles.
He is survived by his three children: Prince Michael I, Paris Katherine and Prince Michael II (Blanket).
