There's something about an animal in a wheelchair that seems to bring animal lovers to their knees, but what about an animal with a wheelchair AND an underbite?
Daisy is a 4-year-old mix that was almost euthanized after being abandoned on the streets on Bellflower. A volunteer from Costa Mesa-based A Home 4Ever Rescue stepped in just in time, leading Daisy to her forever home with her owner, Sheena Main.
Even though Daisy's front legs are paralyzed at the elbows, she has learned to walk and run anyway. Her wheelchair -- custom-made by Eddie's Wheels -- is only used for walks, Main tells HLN.
"She hops like a bunny in the house," Main said.
And what's it like to live with a disabled dog? Pretty good, actually -- especially when the two gets to do their photoshoots together. Main says that she has gotten some negative feedback about them, but she maintains that Daisy's well-being always comes first.
"They don't take that long to do -- only about five minutes," Main tells HLN. "It's really quick, and she is patient and engaging. Of course, she gets plenty of treats!"
