Lauren Bacall, known for her commanding on-screen presence, passed away Tuesday at the age of 89.
The talented actress was able to hold her own while sharing the screen with her late-husband Humphrey Bogart. The couple filmed many movies together, including Bacall's first film, 1944's "To Have and Have Not."
The American Film Institute named Bacall a "legend" in 1999. However, she told CNN's Larry King that she didn't appreciate the honor. "And to begin with, to me, a legend is something that is not on the Earth, that is dead," she said.
