Nothing says summer like eating a cool treat on a hot day!
"The Summer of Ice Cream Sandwiches is a project that let me celebrate my favorite treats of summer growing up. It wasn’t summer until you got that first box of Ice Cream Sandwiches in the freezer and took a bite of the melty frozen treat," Lampe told HLN.
Lampe got the idea for the project when he "casually" put a "sammie" in the front pocket of his shirt one day and wondered what else he could do with an ice cream sandwich. "I pushed the concept as far as I could creating an alternate world in which Ice Cream Sandwiches don’t melt as fast and the the possibilities on where they could show up in the outside world is endless," Lampe says.
Lampe, a designer at CNN, which is HLN's sister network, has used the sandwiches to play Jenga, he stuck one in a bush, and even placed one on the head of fellow Instagrammer, Paul Octavious. (That one did melt a little.)
He's gotten a lot of positive feedback on the project from fellow "sammie" lovers. "It’s been great to see how the photos resonate with people so much and how they want to not only share in the enthusiasm, but participate themselves."
